Holy Smokes!!!  This week we are fully enjoying the perks of home ownership!  That’s right, out of the thirteen moves, only 3 have been to homes we actually own. Sure, there is a lot you can do to personalize a rental, but I’m so excited to be able to add moulding to our home!  Man, oh man!  You have to check it out!

What is the ORC?

I want to start out with a huge thank you to Linda, from Calling it Home, for organizing this…THE MONSTER TRUCK EXPEDITION of all link-ups…THE… FALL… ONE ROOM CHALLENGE???!  (said in my best echoing “big voice”) Yassssss!

Never heard of it?  Well, my friends, then you have never lived! This is a 6 week competition between 20 “Challenge Participants” and hundreds of other “Guest Participants” (like me).  All of us have the goal of transforming our spaces with only a month and a half to get it done (how is it already WEEK 2???!!!).  As an added bonus there are two great media sponsors for this event, Better Homes and Gardens and Home Love Network.  They will be picking their favorites to showcase and we will all be cheering each other on to the finish line.  It’s all so…what’s the word…CRAZY?…MASOCHISTIC?…EXCITING!

Why I Love Metrie Moulding

Who hasn’t walked down the aisle of a big box store and been a little overwhelmed by all of the options.  Which pieces look good together?  If I pick this crown moulding and this chair moulding will they actually coordinate?  Is this moulding the right scale for my space?  That’s the beauty of Metrie.com. Not only do they have quality products, they also have collections.  You simply pick which style you prefer and all of the pieces in the collection work together.

So Friday I took a field trip to a local Metrie location and picked up this Panel Moulding. We borrowed our kind neighbor’s tools, and the rest is history.

Basic Tutorial

If you are wondering how in the world I went about determining how much to order scroll through the diagrams below.  Basically I chose to leave a three inch gap between the Metie Panel Mould and most walls, ceilings, and other trim.

Truth be told, we still have some more work to do in these two rooms.  It’s going to be a few early mornings and late nights to try to sneak in the additional coats of paint and boards of moulding.  Let’s not forget though, we can do hard things!

    Wow the new molding looks amazing. I am a big fan of adding trim and architectural features like the Metrie trim to a home it just elevates in way that is so classic. Great job

    the rooms look amazing with their brand new personality … thanks for the tutorial too (not very handy here) and that rug is so good! may have a drapery issue at my home office (out of stock) …. fingers crossed!

    I have loved their friendly service and the product it fabulous. I love the profile of the panel moulding. It’s something I couldn’t find at a big-box store. You should be excited!!!

    Hilarious! The good news is that my grandma, who doesn’t look a day over 70 is vey hip. She may even like the new space when it’s done! ?

    Hi Jenn-

    You are going to love this…Target! It’s an indoor outdoor rug and I think they are still available online. I have ordered two of the largest ones and had trouble with delivery on both. Plan a little extra time for them arrive. Good luck!
