Bold Dining Room Before
It is time to share a dramatic and bold dining room makeover from a recent client project. Since context is important, here are some before images.
THE PLAN
We kept the plaster medallion to pay tribute to the character of the home. We also opted not to touch the finish on the hardwood floors.
Since they have four dogs and this room has a direct exit to their amazing backyard and pool, we decided to go with very durable carpet squares.
AFTER
We wanted this space to be the most dramatic part of the home. By color-drenching the entire room in the same color, it gives the illusion of the room feeling almost bigger than it would with white walls.
My client, a color lover through and through, was excited that one of the accent colors in the wallpaper was her favorite…bright orange.
A lucite and brass bar cart pops against the dramatic wallpaper, and can be wheeled from room to room as needed.
Custom Drapes and brass Kilismos styled chairs amp up the glamour.
I had a pair of Regency period armchairs recovered in a Tibetian Tiger-styled velvet. I think they look fantastic with the Artstar.com art.
The art is such a fun and flirty way to keep the space from feeling stuffy or over the top. The whimsey is such a fantastic foil to the chinoiserie wallpaper.
This bold dining room is just one of many rooms that I’m excited to start revealing from this project. Stay tuned for more and don’t forget to “Pin” for later.
Thanks for joining us!
