Surprise! After a quick change in plans, I have decided to switch my Maximalist Decor inspired REVEAL DAY makeover to our glamorous dining room instead of our entryway. I can’t wait to show you how it turned out.
Remember ten days ago when I told you I was going to remake our entryway? Yeaaaahhhhh, about that…Can I interest you in a maximalist decor inspired dining room refresh instead?
Week 1 | Week 2- You are here

BEFORE Maximalist Decor Makeover
First, let’s reminisce about the dining room the day we moved back in 3 years ago.
Since then, we made over our dining room for the Fall 2018 One Room Challenge. We have loved living in this room and use it on a regular basis for both weekend and often weeknight dinners, though we haven’t entertained others in here as much as we would have like over the last couple of years. I am excited to getting back to normalcy someday.
Note: All products mentioned here were sponsored but the opinions are 100% my own.
AFTER: Glamour Dining Room Makeover
With only a half week’s worth of work (and help from my awesome contractor, Richard, for the chandelier), I was able to give this room new life. Can I think of things that I would have changed if I had more time? Sure, but I’m thrilled with the adjustments we have made.
MAXIMALIST DECOR IDEAS: EPIC CHANDELIER
Lighting is such an import part of any design, but when we are talking about a maximalist decor inspired dining room, a stunning chandelier is KING! I’ve installed this GORGEOUS Lamps Plus- Cyan Design Cascata Polished Nickle Light chandelier and it is blowing my mind.
Notice the detail on the glass pieces. Each is organic and etched looking. As a result, it reflects light beautifully in our dining room at night. I love the way each crystal flares as the rows taper down the body of the piece.
This piece is very versatile. It could have worked in my entryway, but after seeing it, I decided it would be even more impactful in my dining room. While this hangs just barely in the acceptable height range with my 8 ft ceilings, it would be perfect on 9 ft+ ceilings if you have them.
I ordered this piece from Lamps Plus. I have worked with Lamps Plus on several projects. Some of these include:
I like shopping at Lamps Plus because they have an incredible selection and a very helpful search engine. Plus, they have affordable house brands and they carry my other favorite lighting brands all at competitive prices. When working with a client I regularly start with Lamps Plus.
Maximalist Decor Ideas: Bold Wallpaper and Paint
We installed this wallpaper 2.5 years ago for the Fall 2018 ORC. My husband loves the vibrancy and details and he wasn’t ready for me to switch it out for this makeover. I didn’t make the mistake of asking before deciding to add new paint. LOL. I used Farrow and Ball Ichyra Blue and it is stunning.
I know better, but it still amazes me the difference paint can make in the mood of a room. Instant gratification…or in this case, late night and really early morning work that ended in pretty quick (but not quite instant) paint gratification.
We also installed this ceiling medalion. The verdict is still out as to whether or not it is a keeper, but the concept is certainly worth sharing.
Thanks so much for joining me today. Now go check out the other participants in the Instagram REVEAL DAY (March 31, 2021) as mentioned in my IIG POST.
